Morgan highlights Cashback for Communities Scheme

SNP MSP for the South of Scotland, Alasdair Morgan, today (Tuesday) highlighted the Scottish Government’s Cashback for Communities scheme, which uses money recovered from criminals under the Proceeds of Crime Act to fund wide range of positive activities for young people between the ages of 10 and 19 years across Scotland.

Mr Morgan said;

“Cashback for Communities is an excellent scheme, which looks to fund the provision of free local activities for young people across Scotland. The first round of applications resulted in three awards for organisations in Dumfries & Galloway.

“They were Youth Alive, the Base Summerhill Youth Group and Portpatrick Friday Night Club and Café. There are other parts of the country which made many more applications, indeed three local authorities, East Lothian, Argyll and Bute and North Lanarkshire have exhausted their funding allocation.

“However there is a second round of funding, and the deadline for applications is Friday 29th August. I would urge voluntary groups and third sector organisations across Dumfries & Galloway to consider applying this summer. You can access further information on Cashback for Communities’ website at: http://www.cashbackscotland.com/.”
